  • Hey Webmasters! New Photo Album Service Launched - Check it out!
The name 'SKUDPUPPETZ' is derived from an instruction for a road marking that was written on the main road in George st. Oban. I think it said skid plate or skid buff or whatever... The 'puppets' part came from that legendary metal album: 'Master of Puppets', curtousy of rock giants Metallica. So, you swap the odd letter, stick both together and there you have it - band name.
See Bill and Ted go absolutely off the fuckin wall in thier new movie: 'Watch me shit on your carpet', at cinemas now.

A Band is Born

Please be aware all events are based on fact. There has been little to no exaggeration of the beginnings of this band and no animals were harmed in the making of this story. Except some little bastard cat who will remain nameless, (i.e. Ted), who thought it would be a good idea to shit in a bag, set it alight and shove it through the letterbox at 4 o'clock on a Sunday morning... Dick

It's true the Skudpuppetz have made reasonable progress in the 10 months they have been in existance. Forming in late June 2004, three maddo bastards, strangers to each other, joined forces making it thier goal to BRING THE WORLD TO ITS KNEES. As that didn't work they decided to form a band. And of this band there were three; from the north: Chris. From the south: Cree. And from the not so south: Jonno. (Like Bono but without the shite). Twas Chris who brought the trio together, through dodgy internet adverts none of them remember doing. (Nice try. You make a crap call girl Cree. Mind you those Paisley folk are a bit mad. And old it seems). And so the band was formed.

What with the drummers decision to launch an all out invasion of Canada durin the summer of 2004, and the bass player becoming lost in his own thoughts, the band never really began work till about September. (As a concellation, we now run Canada. Weyhey!) What followed was about five months of grullin songwritin, rehearsal after rehearsal, and as that didn't work we decided just to jot down some pure chutney bollocks and just make do. Which we did. More or less. The skuddpuppetz first gig was at Obans Corran Halls, home of the prestigeous MTV awards...sorry Freakshow...in January. New band, first gig, nuff said. After much rejoicing, a half arsed attempt at a wee bit of practice, plenty of beer, and a trip to ye olde bbc for a bit of a recordin sesh, we convinced ourselves we were no too bad and began the assault on Glasgow. This began with a gig at the Vale, with the help of the Podboy crew...and that kinda brings us to the present. (The journal will keep you up to date with various important events, like gigs and stuff, as they happen. Keep your eye on it.)

However, with good reviews, radio air time and more gigs in the pipeline (what are they doin in there?) expect the Skudpuppetz to go from strength to strength. Hoo ya!!
